Kid Cudi - Mojo So Dope
This is a new jam from the artist Kid Cudi. Love this man. Everybody love this man. I love him. I don’t even know why I love him so much. Some of his tracks I’m not even so fond of. I guess those like couple dozen songs or so have become a part of my soul and have made me irrational. I listened to his stuff so much that I killed them and couldn’t listen to him at all for a while. However, he’s dropped a couple new tracks to keep us on our toes till his next album drops in October. I honestly don’t know what to think of them. When he first came out in the music scene he got big and he got big fast. I think that he’s still evolving as an artist and this is sort of the first time when I’ve really had the opportunity or enough knowledge of a genre to properly observe an artist develop his or her sound. I do love his old stuff and I’m still a sucker for the tunes that got stuck in the radio and in clubs, but his music is definitely changing. I think the combination of a surplus of weed and his newly solidified confidence and comfort in fans and other collaborating artists has led to a more organic sound.
I’ve heard a couple arguments that his newer tracks don’t flow as well or sound a little stale, but he had wonky tracks like that from the beginning. He doesn’t hit everything perfectly but that’s ok with me. I like his faults as a performer because I like him as an artist. He’s so cool man, look up some of his interviews. His beliefs in his music and his perpetually stoned, down-to-earth demeanor are a comfort to see. I love his voice too, whether it’s the clear ringing in Day N Nite, or the grittier and well…stoned drawl that’s in this track. When he came to my university and I went to his concert the night before a huge bio exam and he held my hands after the show and thanked me for watching and supporting him, I swear there were sparks in those few seconds and I was on a high till the exam was failed and over the next day. I’m definitely digging this chill song. He also performed at my university with crowd of two thousand. They stood there loyally under the drizzle and rain.
